Glenda Luetreasy (Johnson) Simmons, 76, wife of Dennis E. Simmons, of Staunton, Virginia, passed from this life into eternal life with her heavenly Father on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 24, 1946, a daughter of the late William M. and Dorothy (Back) Johnson.
Glenda attended Robert E. Lee High School and then began her 52 years of work for Western State Hospital. She married her husband, Dennis on June 5, 1971 and their journey in life began. Glenda's life was full with taking care of people. She lived her life with great commitment to all she met. She was a generous person with a heart of gold that found joy in helping others
In addition to her parents, her precious son, Eric Shane Simmons and her siblings, all passed from this life into eternal life.
Surviving, in addition to her husband are her children, Kirtner W. Jackson (Paula), Aaron L. Simmons (Bridgett), all of Staunton; three grandchildren, Joshua Roberson (Kayla), Kaitlin Jackson, and Zachary Simmons; one great-grandson, Pierce Roberson; two great-granddaughters, Aubree Jackson and Chloe Simmons; two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Roberson, Zachary Simmons, Mike Johnson, Morgan Smith, Justin Simmons, and Garry Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
