Gerald Colin Broughman, 67, husband of Linda (Bagwell) Broughman of 38 Gish Lane, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Broughman was born in Covington, Virginia on June 12, 1943 a son of the late Robert Erskine and Helen Elizabeth (Karns) Broughman.
Gerald was raised as a child in Covington, he was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. He retired due to his health from Wendell Transport, he drove a truck for Smiths Transfer, Consolidated Freight and McKee Foods. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Steward Sunday School Class.
In addition to his wife of twenty-two years, Mr. Broughman is survived by a step-son, William F. Trey Duke and his wife Krista of Staunton; a brother, Allan Broughman of Covington; two granddaughters, Vivien and Sadie Duke; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn A. Busch and her husband Larry of Florida and Julie E. Weir and her husband Donald of Texas; an aunt, Elaine Conner of Clifton Forge, a number of nieces, nephews and many special friends also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Temple Myers and Pastor John Sullivan.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Todd Gruver, Tim Brown, Kenny Hartzog, John Davis, Keith Burnett and Joseph Hladky.
