George Leonard Moran, Sr., 80, husband of Doris Lee (Losh) Moran of Sales Mill Road, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Buena Vista.
Mr. Moran was born on December 23, 1934, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Leonard Stuart and Etta Elizabeth (Fix) Moran.
George was a member of the Marlbrook Baptist Church and attended the Spring Valley Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Mr. Moran retired in 1999 from May Brothers Trucking as a driver. He loved animals and enjoyed camping and trucking. George was a very good mechanic. Mr. Moran was known as a very caring man.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, William Fix.
Mr. Moran is survived by his loving wife of 33 years; two sons, George L. Moran, Jr. of MD and Michael Stuart Mike Moran of WVA; two daughters, Janice Lemen and husband Brad of WVA and Jeanette (Rowe) Jones and husband Mark of Greenville; a sister, Betty Lou Shull and husband Aubrey of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Crystal Roberts, Summer Whitt, Tisha Moran, Ashley Lemen, Dustin Jones, Sean Jones, and Ashley Shiflett; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Luther Whitt.
Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Allen Groah, Sr., Allen Groah, Jr., Sean Jones, Dustin Jones, and Bobby Losh.
