Genevieve Mamie (Mullenax) Grand Maw Washburn, 90, widow of William Clarence Washburn, of 1171 Estaline Valley Road, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, in Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton.
Mrs. Washburn was born May 4, 1923, in Pocahontas County, WVA, a daughter of the late Emory K. and Mamie Elizabeth (Hoover) Mullenax.
Genevieve attended Little River Church of the Brethren; she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed doing word puzzles, picture puzzles and embroidery.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Washburn was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard Hoover, Paul Mullenax and Stanley Mullenax; two sisters Libby Arbagast and Marion Eye and two great-grandsons, David Overton and C.D. Sprouse.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy A. Smith and husband Rawlin and Joyce A. Overton and husband Eddie all of Craigsville; two sons, Larry A. Washburn and wife Gail of Covington and William D. Washburn and wife Ruth of Hartley, DE; a brother Richard Mullenax and wife Lucy of Durbin, WVA; ten grandchildren, Missy Reid and husband Shane, Linda Rector, William Christopher Washburn, Christina Overton, Steve Overton and wife Kellyn, Becky Smith and fiance Jeremy Hunter, Beth Melton and fiance Tracy Martin, John Smith and fiance Tricia Martin; Brandi Graves and husband Eddie, and Clarence Washburn and wife Stacy; 21 great grandchildren; extended family, Larry Sprouse and his wife Regina, Dakota, Shasta and Alex Sprouse and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Little River Church of the Brethren, in Craigsville by the Rev. William H. Bill Garber and Rev. Garold Senger.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Coffman, Basil Karr, Junior Campbell, Andy Coffman, Richard Boothe, and Paul Hinkle.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Coffman, Sr., Ronald Colvin, David Sprouse, George Ingram, Ben Strickler, Robert Hinkle, and Robbie Simmons.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Rawlin Smith, 1171 Estaline Valley Road, Craigsville.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
