Genevieve Elizabeth "Ginny" (Howdyshell) Garza, 95, widow of Dean Campbell Garza, of Craig Drive, Staunton, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Allegheny Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Garza was born in Stokesville, Virginia on June 28, 1926, a daughter of the late William Howdyshell and Myrtle (Hise) Howdyshell.

Ginny served as a banquet hostess at the Sheraton Inn for many years. She enjoyed going on family vacations to the Outer Banks and camping. Mrs. Garza was a wonderful cook, loved animals but most of all, she loved her family.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Garza was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Buster" Nickell; a daughter, Kathi Dawn Garza; four brothers, William H. Howdyshell, Alfred D. Howdyshell, Charles E. Howdyshell, and Elmer L. Howdyshell; and a sister, Nora H. Tinsley.

Genevieve was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving, are three sons, Troy Scott Garza (Nick) of Washington, D.C., Jeff Garza (Donna Snyder) and Mike Nickell (Heidi) both of Staunton; six grandchildren, Bryan Boyd, Megan Kincheloe, Shane Nickell, Chris Nickell, Charles Whitney Nickell, and David Nickell; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special friends, Annie Harris and Paula Tuley; special nephew, C. E. Howdyshell; and her furry friend, "Gigi".

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
