(Wimer) Sheets
August 27, 1927 – November 4, 2023
Geneva Mae (Wimer) Sheets, 96, widow of Tommy Price Sheets, of Villa View Drive in Staunton, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Sheets was born on August 27, 1927 in Highland County, Virginia a daughter of the late Loyd Wimer and Lela (Sponaugle) Wimer.
Mrs. Sheets was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Churchville and retired as co-owner/operator of Sheets Body Shop working with her husband. Prior to her retirement Geneva was employed with Imperial Fashions, The Hosiery Mill and Genesco. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and was an avid Blue Grass music fan.
Mrs. Sheets was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sheets was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Loyd Wimer and Roland Dale Wimer; and three sisters, Ester Wagner, Anna Lee Hevener and Lillian Mullenax.
Survivors include two daughters, Reta Ann (Sheets) Welcher of Mt. Crawford and Gay (Sheets) Sponaugle of Staunton; three grandchildren, H.W. Welcher, Jr. and wife Karen, Cecil Price Welcher and wife Elizabeth and Marissa (Sponaugle) Helmick and husband Jonathan; two great grandchildren, Amy Louann Welcher and Oaklynn Mae Helmick.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Lester Kennedy and Pastor Sam Sponaugle.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Wimer, Jonathan Helmick, Michael Looney, Ronald Wimer, H.W. Welcher, Jr. and Cecil Welcher.
The family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to Hailey Carlison and Linda Woods for their love and care for Mrs. Sheets during her time of illness.
