Gary Alfred Palmer, Sr., 84, widower of Janie (Powers) Palmer of 20 Hampshire Lane, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville.
Mr. Palmer was born on July 15, 1933 in Port Huron, Michigan, a son of the late Alfred Earl and Mary (McAller) Palmer.
Gary attended Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, he was a proud veteran of the United States Marines and was a member of the Marine Corps League. Mr. Palmer was a retired loan officer / Assistant Vice-President of First Virginia Bank / BBT and in his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by a son, Gary A. Palmer, Jr.; a grandson; and two brothers, Larry Palmer and Edison Palmer.
Surviving are two sons, Joel D. Palmer and his wife Ann of Richmond and Scott F. Palmer of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Cindy L. Palmer of Deerfield; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Grant Palmer of Michigan.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. William Bill Trice.
