Fredericka Smalls, lovingly known as "Fred" by family and friends, 101, of Staunton, peacefully departed from this life on Saturday, May 4, 2024 in the Shenandoah House in Fishersville, Virginia.

Mrs. Smalls was born on June 7, 1922 in St. Helena, South Carolina and was raised by her grandparents, Florence and Willie Smalls.

Fredericka married and had four children. Years later, she moved to New York to take care of her sick mother where she remarried and had two additional children.

She is survived by her children, Norwood Cook, Jr. and his wife, Katrina and Angeline Bradley and her husband, Oliver; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Bethesda Christian Community Church in St. Helena, South Carolina.

Burial will take place at a later date in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
