Franklyn D. Frank McDorman, 75, husband of Wilda L. (Smith) McDorman of 515 Hull Street passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Kings Daughters Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. McDorman was born January 5, 1939 in Staunton, a son of the late Andrew Jackson McDorman and Elsie Pauline (Shifflett) McDorman Zigler.
Frank was retired from Schmidts Bakery where he worked on the production line, was formerly a D/J with the Radio Station WABH in Deerfield and was a volunteer with the Verona Fire Department. Frank enjoyed playing music, was a collector of antique cars and small state trooper die-cast cars. Mr. McDorman enjoyed spending time with his family and he was an animal lover.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McDorman was preceded in death by a son, Vincent D. McDorman; a step-grandson, Lennie Bodkin; three brothers and three sisters.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-five years is a daughter, Holly L. Karicofe and her husband Stacy of Staunton; two grandchildren, Loren R. Karicofe and Garret R. Karicofe; two step-sons, John Bodkin of Highland County and Jack Bodkin of Staunton; a step-daughter, Kim Bodkin of Staunton; a step-grandson, Will Bodkin; half-brother, Earl Miller and his wife Sharon of Verona; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Barry Creasy and Rev. Richard Anderson.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
