Francis Rudolph Coffman, 94, widower of Anna Ellen (Nelson) Coffman formerly of Mullins Lane, Stuarts Draft, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community.
Francis was born in Swoope, Virginia on September 19, 1926, a son of the late Henry Rudolph and Aimee Dorothea (Arehart) Coffman.
Mr. Coffman was a member of Cherryvale United Methodist Church, was a veteran of the United States Army, and retired in 1988 with fourteen years of service as Supervisor with the City of Staunton. Francis was very strong willed, self-sufficient, and age wasn't a factor for he was always trying to accomplish most anything when he knew quite well he shouldn't.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Coffman was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Coffman; three brothers, Randolph Coffman, Henry Coffman, and Melvin Coffman; and two sisters, Dorothea Brownlee and Viola Coffman.
Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Coffman and his wife Phyllis K. of Glen Allen and Marcus J. Coffman and his wife Denise A. of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Patricia A. Brubaker and her husband Gary L. of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Dawn Christian and her husband Jackie, Gary Lee Brubaker, II, Matthew Coffman and his wife Sklyer, Steven Coffman and his wife Lindsey, and Lindsay Coffman; eight great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a sister, Nancy Back of Middlebrook; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Cherryvale United Methodist Church by Pastor Mike Lawson.
Burial will follow the service at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Coffman, Steven Coffman, Gary Lee Brubaker, II, Brandon Brubaker, Trip Christian, Dalton Christian, Dawn Christian, and Lindsay Coffman.
