STAUNTON:

Frances Elaine (Veney) Maddox, 75, wife of Theodore H. Maddox, Sr., of 2207 Davis Street, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 in the Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Maddox was born September 3, 1935 in Staunton, the daughter of the late Harry and Antha (Thomas) Veney.
Frances was an active and devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church when her health allowed. She was the president of the Silver Leaf Club, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful homemaker and a friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maddox was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Maddox.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 57 years, are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Alvin Preacher Maddox and his wife Carol of Capital Heights, MD, Theodore H. Teddy Maddox, Jr. and Rickie L. Maddox both of Staunton; five grandchildren, Lamond Maddox, Alvin Maddox, Jr., Allyssa Maddox, Ricca Maddox, and Chanel Maddox; six great grandchildren, Isaiah Maddox, Ciara Maddox, A. J. Maddox, Jr. Elijah Maddox, Alexander Maddox and Dontae Maddox; an additional daughter-in-law, Tracey D. Maddox of Charlottesville; six sisters-in-law, Anita Washington, Olga Crawford, Elizabeth Carter, Lucinda Smith, Catherine Searey and Doris Chandler; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Frances was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Pastor Joseph Walker.
Entombment will follow in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers are James Washington, Lamond Maddox, Alvin Maddox, Jr., Tony Smith, Thomas Maddox, Kevin Ellis, Robert Douglas, John Thomas and
Clarence Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of church James Becks, Thomas Morton, Preston Carter, Robert Haston and Irvin Bryant.
The family would like to thank Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and staff for the wonderful care that was given to our loved one.
