Frances Belle (Cash) Fitzgerald, 95, widow of Everett Roller Fitzgerald, Sr., of Pheasant Ridge Assisted Living, in Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born on July 11, 1919 in Montebello, VA, a daughter of the late Richard Henley and Carrie Belle (Bartley) Cash.
Frances was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was on the Counsel of Organization at W.W.R.C. and the Staunton VFW Post 2216 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved children, collecting shoes and walking. Frances never met a stranger and was known for her impeccable taste of fashion and appearance.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Everett Randolph Fitzgerald, Jr.,; three brothers, Jesse Cash, Herbert Cash and Robert Cash; and two sisters, Virginia Mae Shull and Louise Fitzgerald.
Survivors include a brother, James Elwood Cash of Churchville; a sister, Hazel (Cash) Tankesley of Staunton; a daughter-in-law, Betty (Clemmer) Fitzgerald of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Debbie L. Custer and husband Barry; Everett R. Fitzgerald, III and wife Lisa; Ann F. Dunbar and husband Jimmy; and Linda Sue Hale and husband Lonnie Lee; thirteen great-grandchildren, James Randolph Collette, Lee Andrew Collette, Shawn Allen Custer, Everett R. Fitzgerald, IV, Jacob Wayne Fitzgerald, Christopher E. Meador, Erin Meador, Cameron Camden Fitzgerald, Joshua B. Fitzgerald, Randi Renee Dunbar, Jesse James Dunbar, Michael Lee Hale and Meagan Marie Hale; eleven great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Pheasant Ridge Senior Living for giving Grandma excellent care, support, and love during the past year. Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation we have for each of you knowing how well she was cared for on a daily basis.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 22, 2014 in the Christ United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald and Rev. Sarah Locke.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of United Methodist Women.
