Frances Adams (Simmons) Atkins, 60, wife of Robert C. Robby Atkins, Jr. of 311 Baldwin Drive passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Atkins was born on March 11, 1956 in Staunton, a daughter of the late James Stocker, III and Jane (Parkins) Simmons.
Frances was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Promise Sunday School Class. She was a 1974 graduate of Lee High School and graduated from Longwood College in 1978. Mrs. Atkins was an accomplished tennis player both in high school and college. She worked for Blue Ridge Podiatry as a Medical Transcriptionist.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Simmons and Jack Simmons.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Atkins is survived by two daughters, Frances Caroline Carrie Atkins and her fianc, Jason Adon Turner and Ann Claiborne (Atkins) Shifflett and her husband Jon Michael all of Staunton; a brother, James S. Jamie Simmons, IV and his wife Brenda of Verona; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 in Thornrose Cemetery with a Memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Mark W. Jones and Rev. Temple D. Myers.
