Forest Evick, Jr., 90, widower of Ann (Lilley) Evick, formerly of Austin Avenue, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at Emeritus of Staunton.
Mr. Evick was born May 29, 1924 in Stone Branch, WV, a son of the late Forest Evick, Sr. and Vivian Lee (Barker) Evick.
Forest was a retired ad setter from the Staunton News Leader and a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II in the 28th Division. Mr. Evick served in France, Belgium, Luxemburg Germany and received the Bronze star for heroic services from December 1944 to February 1945. He was a collector of Civil War relics, collected knives, and guns. He enjoyed flea markets, gun shows and browsing in antique stores.
Surviving is a daughter, Janet L. Fountaine and special friend, Don Cowherd of Staunton; a grandson, William Kevin Knight and his wife Laura of Richmond; a great-grandson, William Blaine Knight; a step-son, John H. Dressler and his wife Kathy of Rockville, IN; a step-daughter, Carolyn H. Dressler of Covington; a sister, Ella Frances Vawter and her husband John of Curran, MI; and special friends, Herman Reed, Gordon Barlow, Giancarlos and Jane Gnali also survive.
All services are private with burial in New Providence Cemetery.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
