February 25, 1928 – July 22, 2023
Evelyn Elizabeth Myers, 95, a longtime resident of Weyers Cave, passed away peacefully at Birch Gardens of Staunton on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Mrs. Myers was born in Augusta County on February 25, 1928 to the late Wilmer E. Sheets and Beulah Miller Sheets.
Evelyn worked at and retired from ASR with 33 years of service, after that she drove cars for Avis Rental for another twenty years. She was of the Lutheran Faith but attended Weyers Cave United Methodist Church for many years.
On October 16, 1948 she married Ray Glenwood Myers who preceded her in death on August 6, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gaethea Lee Myers; a son, Ray Glenwood Myers Jr.; three brothers, Vernon, Nelson, June Sheets; and a sister, Ruth Hicklin.
She is survived by a son, Michael T. Myers and his wife, Cathy of Staunton and daughter-in-law, Carol Myers of Weyers Cave; four grandchildren, Miranda Ball and her husband, Jason of Mount Sidney, Kyle Myers and his wife, Kahla of Weyers Cave, Jason Myers and his wife, Justynn of Raphine and Ashlyn Myers of Buena Vista; and eight great-grandchildren, Addison Ball and her fiancé, Wilson Reid, Travis Ball, Laura Rowe, Zachary Myers, Ryan Myers, Katie Myers, Emerson Myers and Russell Myers.
Burial will be private in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Weyers Cave United Methodist Church by Pastor Amy Pannell.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mike and Cathy at 165 Fairfield Drive, Staunton, VA at any time.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Weyers Cave United Methodist Church, 228 Houff Road, Weyers Cave, VA. 24486.
The family would like express a sincere "Thank You" to the staff at Birch Gardens for the love and care they showed the last four months and to Pastor Amy Pannell for her guidance and compassion.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
