Eugene Sylvester Arehart, 74, of Hankey Mountain Highway, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 in Staunton.
Mr. Arehart was born on April 12, 1942 in Middlebrook, Virginia a son of the late Marshall Sylvester and Mary Virginia (Rankin) Arehart.
Gene was employed as a truck driver and most recently with Old Dominion Trucking Company. Mr. Arehart was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Staunton Moose Lodge #1635, and an avid Buffalo Gap Bison and Staunton Braves Baseball fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents Mr. Arehart is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Arehart Gwin and brother-in-law, John, and a nephew, Randal Arehart.
Surviving are three sons, Kevin Arehart and his wife Debbie of Churchville, Tony Arehart and his wife Lorraine and Nathan Arehart both of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Jerry Arehart and his wife Annie of Raphine; three grandchildren, Bryanna Arehart, Hunter Arehart and Amber Arehart; and a special niece, Vanessa Coursey also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Debbie Arehart, 228 Moffett Branch Rd., Churchville, VA. 24421.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Chappel.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Doug Painter, Lenny Townsend, Robbie McGuffin, Bill Grazul, Alan Rankin, Jeremy Arehart and Joey Arehart.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Staunton Braves Baseball Team.
