STAUNTON:
Erskine Lee Houser, 78, husband of Margie Marge (Fitzgerald) Houser of 40 Sunset Blvd. passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Augusta Health in Fishersville surrounded by his family.
Mr. Houser was born March 31, 1933 in Spottswood, Virginia, a son of the late Guy Wilton and Edith Pearl (Blackwell) Houser.
Erskine was a veteran of the United States Army Infantry and retired in 1993 from E.I. DuPont where he was employed for twenty-six years. He was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. Erskine enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Staunton Merchants Mixed Bowling League. He had a special mechanical talent, loved vacation time with his family and playing his guitar. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Houser was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Lewis Houser and Lyle Wilton Houser.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of fifty-eight years is a daughter, Donna Lee (Houser) Snyder and her fiance, Jeff Garza of Staunton; two sons, Darryl Erskine Houser and his fianc, Debbie Earman and Ronald Neil Houser and his fianc, Sandy Neff all of Staunton; five special grandchildren, Megan Lindsay Kincheloe and her husband Chris of Staunton, Abby Jo Houser of Winston-Salem, NC, Andrea Jane Houser of Troy, Daniel Erskine Houser of Staunton and Ashley Marie Houser of Stuarts Draft; a great-granddaughter, Graycie Evans Kincheloe; two sisters, Helen Persinger of Raphine and Elaine Taylor and her husband Bobby of Greenville; numerous special in-laws, nieces and nephews and a special grand puppy, Pepper also survives.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the Third Presbyterian Church by Rev. Jack B. Wilkers.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
At the request of Mr. Houser, burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Third Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1313 Barterbrook Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or Alzheimers Association, 2040 Deyerle Avenue Suite 102, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
