Emily Steger
STAUNTON:
Emily Suzanne (Kedy) Steger, 73, widow of Garland Robinson Steger, Jr of College Circle passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at the residence of her daughter in Springfield, Virginia.
Mrs. Steger was born May 8, 1938 in Roanoke, Virginia, a daughter of the late Sydney Arnold and Suzanne (Amos) Kedy.
Emily was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the community, holding positions of leadership in many organizations including president of St. Stephens Episcopal Church Women in Culpeper, president of Culpeper Garden Club, Republican Party Western Vice Chair, delegate to the 1980 Republican Convention to elect Ronald Reagan, member of the Glenmore Hunt Club and the Staunton-Augusta Republican Party.
Survivors include two daughters Suzanne Carter Steger and partner Deborah Ann McKay of Springfield, Virginia, and Catherine (Katie) Stewart Steger-Lockridge and husband Robert Todd of Staunton, a brother Sidney Arnold Kedy and wife Margaret of Midlothian, VA, a sister Catherine Kedy Hancock of Richmond, VA, three grandchildren Peyton Stewart, Carter Alexander and Eleanor Todd Lockridge all of Staunton, three nephews, and a great niece and a great nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Shelby Ochs Owen and the Rev. Dr. Paul Nancarrow.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery with a reception immediately following at her residence.
There will be no public viewing.
Active pallbearers will be Catherine Hancock, Phillip Kedy, Stewart Hancock, Rader Dod, Scott Yeago, and Patrick Kincheloe.
Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Yeago, Darlene Yeago, and Elizabeth F. Dod.
