Elnora (Loving) Fountaine, 89, widow of Charles Melville Fountaine, of The Legacy at North Augusta Street, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mrs. Fountaine was born in Bath County, VA on February 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Hugh Brown and Hilda (Farnsworth) Loving.
Elnora was a faithful servant and member of the Central
United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer with United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Meals on Wheels and Augusta Health. She was employed by the US Forestry Service in her early working career and finished her career as a Librarian for the Staunton City Schools.
In addition to her parents and husband of sixty-four years, Mrs. Fountaine was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Hugh Loving; a grandson, Ricky Fountaine and a great grandson, Aaden Proffitt.
Surviving are three sons, Gregory L. Fountaine and wife
Linda, Richard M. Fountaine and loving friend Bonnie Sue Grove and Frederick B. Fountaine; six grandchildren, Farrah Fountaine, Jon Fountaine, Matthew Fountaine and wife Melissa, Kevin Knight and wife Laura, Ashlee Proffitt and husband Aaron and David Harris and wife Danielle; ten great-grandchildren, Megan and Chloe Fountaine, Emma and Isaac Fountaine, Will Knight, Andrew, Asher and Adelee Proffitt, Madison and Okley Harris. All of whom she nurtured, loved and treasured as gifts from her Lord, Christ Jesus.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church by Pastor Won Un.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church gathering room.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Central United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 953, Staunton, Virginia 24402.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
