Elmer Franklin Dickey Singers, 87, husband of Julia Kyle (Hitt) Singers formerly of Culpeper, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Royal Care in Staunton.

Mr. Singers was born on September 25, 1929 in Culpeper, Virginia a son of the late Edward Byron and Lena (Deal) Singers.

Elmer was a member of the Culpeper Presbyterian Church and retired in 1984 from A\u0026P after 32 years of service as a store manager. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, was a 1949 graduate of the Augusta Military Academy where he excelled as a student athlete, and he was a member of the Culpeper Lions Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dora Virginia Singers.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years are two daughters, Judy S. Sorrell and her husband Paul of Staunton, and Teresa G. Nelson and her husband Billy of Grovetown, GA; three grandchildren, Joseph Franklin Sorrell and his wife Elana, Kristen Doughty and her husband Kent, and Amanda Monaghan and her husband Alan; three great-grandchildren, Brooks Doughty, Henry Monaghan, and Ellie Sorrell also survive.

Mr. Singers was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Found \u0026 Sons Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia 22701, by Rev. John Peterson and Chaplain Fred LaSpina.

The family will receive friends following the service.

The family also would like to express their appreciation to Intrepid Hospice and Royal Care Assisted Living for their attentive and loving care.
