Ellen Grant, 70, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and close friends, after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Mrs. Grant was the daughter of the late George and Pauline Rankin and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Kenny Grant and an infant son, Dennis Grant.

She is survived by her son, Darren Grant (Lee Ralston); a daughter, Teresa Grant Lucas (Fred Vazquez); her beloved grandchildren, Troy Lucas and Emma Grant, who were the loves of her life; sisters, Gloria McQuain, Janet Nuckoles, Brenda Whetsell (Tom); brother Connie Rankin (Jatanna); many nieces and nephews and longtime friends.

She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, as well as her adopted family, Katie and Sawyer Vassar and Walda Massie. Every year she looked forward to cheering on the Staunton Braves and was known to most as their number one fan. As you would hear her say during every game, Braves on the Warpath! She had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up the room.

In honoring her request, there will be no public viewing or memorial services.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
