Ella C. Botkin
VERONA:
Ella Cornelia (Howdyshell) Botkin, 77, wife of Charles F. Sonny Botkin of 47 Maple Drive, Verona passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Botkin was born in Augusta County on March 14, 1933, a daughter of the late Lee Henry Fillmore and Amanda Elizabeth (Simmons) Howdyshell.
Ella was a member of Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Church Fellowship Committee. She retired in 1998 from Genesco-L-Grief where she was employed as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and working in her flower beds. The time spent with her grandchildren brought her much joy.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Botkin was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Bob Howdyshell and two sisters, Pauline Jarvis and Nancy Sweet.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 51 years is a son and daughter-in-law, David Botkin and wife Diane of Mt. Sidney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Sawyers and husband Danny of Mt. Sidney and Tina Crum and husband Bruce of Crimora; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald L. Howdyshell and wife Joyce of Staunton; one very close sister, Cleta Brooks of Staunton; six grandchildren, Lori Ellinger, Angela Cleveland, Kassidy Sawyers, Justin Griffin, Jessica Griffin and Sonja Ramsey; eight great-grandchildren, Kristie Guyer, Dillon Sheffer, Mollie Sheffer, Chris Cleveland, J.P. Cleveland, Avery Sawyers, Finley Sawyers and Austin Ramsey and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church by Dr. Paul A. OGorek.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Griffin, Todd Cleveland, Christopher Cleveland, Dillon Sheffer, Kassidy Sawyers and Adam Ellinger.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her residence.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939 or the Alzheimers Association, 2040 Deyerle Ave. Suite 102, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
