Eliza Ann (Williams) Cook, 80, widow of Howard Houston Cook of Westgate Road, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Cook was born May 1, 1933 in Prentiss County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Olan and Willie Myrtle (Riddle) Williams.
Eliza worked as the hostess at McDonalds in Verona for a number of years; she enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. Mrs. Cook was known by friends and family for her hugs, smiles and kisses.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Williams; three sisters, Monty Bell Williams, Willie Mae Sisk, and Geneva Josephine Eaves.
Mrs. Cook is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving family members include a son Michael Mike O. Cook and wife Teresa of Verona; two daughters, Sharon C. Sandridge and husband Ricky of Staunton, and Rebecca Becky Wright and husband Tom of Verona; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Caywood and husband Bill, Jennifer Moore and husband Brian, Stephanie Sprouse and husband Seth, Daniel Wright, Cory Sandridge, Jessica Lenahan and husband Patrick, Michael H. Cook and Kalise Wright; four great grandchildren, Hailey Cook, Mason Sprouse, Ryleigh Josephine Sprouse; and Zackary Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by her Pastor Bruce Hankee.
Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Tom Wright and Ricky Sandridge; grandsons, Cory Sandridge, Daniel Wright, Michael H. Cook and Brian Moore; and Dale Willetts and Bobby Sheets.
It is suggested that those desiring, make memorial contributions to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
