Edward Glenn Taylor, 86, husband of Nancy (Crafton) Taylor of Kindig Road went home to be with the Lord on Fathers Day, Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Taylor was born on February 13, 1931 in Newbern, Virginia, a son of the late Lacy and Alma (Rigney) Taylor.
Edward was a very active member of the Fishersville Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Y.E.S. choir. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a retired Supervisor from the C.F.W. Telephone Company where he was employed for thirty-eight years. He enjoyed bass fishing, hunting and was an avid softball player.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by two brothers, George Taylor and Robert Bobby Taylor.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-two years, is a daughter, Dorothy T. Hamilton of Staunton; two grandchildren, Chris Hamilton and Katie Hamilton; two brothers, Jerry Taylor and Ralph Taylor both of Draper, Virginia; two sisters, Alma K. Huff and Mildred Trail both of Pulaski, Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the Fishersville Baptist Church by Pastor Steve Lookabaugh.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be J.R. Ramsey, Greg Allen, Clifton Hamilton, C.T. Mawyer, Neil Motley, and Kenneth Arkward.
