Edward "Jack" Jackson Miller's Obituary

Edward Jackson Jack Miller, Jr., 87, widower of Kathleen (Rohr) Miller formerly of Trout Street passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Envoy of Staunton.

Mr. Miller was born on November 17, 1926 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Edward Jackson, Sr. and Ruth (Hanger) Miller.

Jack was employed as a public works operator for the City of Staunton, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, he received the first World War II Veterans award in the AMVETS Post 511 and he was a member of the Craigsville V.F.W Post 9480.

Survivors include four sons; James F. Jimmy Miller and his wife Patsy, Danny L. Miller, Sr. and his wife Sally, and Wayne T. Miller, all of Staunton and Edward A. Miller of Waynesboro; a daughter Carol M. Shiflett and her husband Raymond of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren Dana Miller, Danny L. Miller, Jr., Brandon Miller, Timothy Miller, James S. Miller, Brandy Boggs, Crystal Via, Elizabeth Miller and Andrew Miller; and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Miller was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his son James F. Miller, 202 Reservoir Street, Staunton.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor John Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers of the Staunton Public Works Department.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the WWII Memorial, 3 Overlord Circle, Bedford, Virginia 24523.
