Edward Eddie Dale Spitler, 50, of 3413 Bryce Lane, Broadway, and formerly of Staunton passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Eddie was born on October 25, 1958 in Rantoul, Illinois a son of John Daniel Spitler, Sr. and DeLoris Yvonne (Espe) Whitlock.
He was employed as a parts manager with Frenchs Automotive and was an U.S. Army Veteran. Eddie was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1976 and was a very active part of Eastside Speedway for 15 Years. He enjoyed the outdoors and the time he spent hunting with his family and friends.
In addition to his father of Wildwood, FL, and his mother of Massanutten Eddie is survived by his step-father, John A. Whitlock of Massanutten and his step-mother, Linda Spitler of Wildwood, Florida; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John D. Spitler, Jr. of Brandywine West Virginia and S. Walter Spitler and his wife Teresa of Staunton; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia A. Moretti and her husband Robert of Cape Coral, Florida; a number of nieces, nephews and his special pet dog Bear.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory with a prayer service to be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Those desiring may also visit at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Teresa Spitler, 130 William Cousins Road, Staunton.
