Edith (Fitzgerald) Stinnett, 73, widow of Richard Lee Stinnett, of Lyndhurst, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Stinnett was born on March 8, 1945 in White Rock, Virginia, a daughter of the late Otis Owen and Eulah (Coffey) Fitzgerald.
Edith was a founding and active member of the SherLynd Baptist Church, and an active member of the Augusta and Staunton Eagles. She retired from Augusta County Public Schools with thirty-five years of service as a school bus driver.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Stinnett was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wayne Stinnett; and four siblings.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Faye Snell and her husband Bobby of Waynesboro and Deborah Kaye Hevener of Stuarts Draft; special granddaughter, Alita Stinnett and A. D. Campbell; her significant other, Johnny Waugh of Waynesboro; three sisters, Florine M. Painter, Olivia D. Dameron, and Ruthie E. Dedrick, all of Sherando; grandchildren, Dustin Stuples, Cory Stuples, and Nathaniel Stinnett; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bobby Snell, 130 Nottingham Lane, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the Sherando United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in the Sherando United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Alita Stinnett, Dustin Stuples, Cory Stuples, Nathaniel Stinnett, Paul Painter, and Johnny Waugh.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
