Edith Virginia (Moran) Gibson, 93, went to eternal sleep on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 34 Harmony Hill Lane in Waynesboro.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia on February 10, 1927, a daughter of the late Charlie and Mattie Moran.
Edith retired from Genesco and Rocky's Gold and Silver.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband, Emory; son, Tommy Mawyer; three brothers; and a sister.
Surviving are three children, Dot Furrow and her husband Randy, Tilly Simonetti and her husband Tony, and Steve Mawyer and his wife Gloria; a sister, Gaynor Nuckoles; sister-in-law, Connie Fletcher; ten grandchildren, Tina Martin, Brad Harris, Sonya Campbell, Timmy Mawyer, Lisa McGann, Todd Harris, Becky Cash, CW Mawyer, Brandon Mawyer and Danny Furrow; twenty-nine great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Scott Stedman.
The family will receive friends following the service.
