Obituary

Earl Wayne Mitts, Sr. 80, widower of Linda (Hanna) Mitts of Lyle Avenue passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Mitts was born on October 13, 1935 in Weyers Cave, Virginia the son of the late Marion Milton and Elva (Lambert) Mitts.

Earl was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren. He was retired from Safeway and Twittys I.G.A. as a Produce Manager. He enjoyed the outdoors and watching sports on television. Mr. Mitts and his widow had a special love and concern for children in that they fostered and cared for many in their home.

Mr. Mitts is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two sons, Earl W. Mitts, Jr. and Pauline of Inwood, West Virginia and Randall Mitts and Schlia of Dunwood, Arkansas; five daughters, Alicia Fitzgerald and Jody, Michele Brackman and B.J. Waitier, Melanie Argenbright and Brian all of Staunton, Isbell Lovett of Waynesboro, and Michelle Lovett and Zach Whiting of Fishersville; seven grandchildren, Jenna Brackman, Kaylin Argenbright, Jason Mitts and Andrew Mitts, Aiden Wiley, Elizabeth Whiting and Estrellita Marquez-Garcia; and eight great grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times the residence of his daughter Melanie Argenbright, 408 Audubon Street, Staunton.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Harold W. Pete Campbell and Pastor Dwight Roetto.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Brocky Knicely, Rodney Freeman, Kevin Hanna, Gary Poindexter, Jeff Henderson and Marshall Shiflett.

The family wishes to express a special Thank You to the Nurses and Staff at Augusta Health, 3rd East and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the care given to Mr. Mitts during his illness.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Augusta Health Foundation Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939 or the Valley Mission, 1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
