E. 'Russell' Landes's Obituary
Ernest Russell Landes, 92, husband of Margaret Bernice (Wine) Landes of 1401A North Augusta Street passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Landes was born on April 25, 1922 in Augusta County, a son of the late Robert and Addie (Nichols) Landes.
Russell was a member of Pleasant View Evangelic Lutheran Church, and was retired from J. B. Wine \u0026 Son Construction Company. He enjoyed horses and his grandchildren. Mr. Landes was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Staunton/Augusta VFW Lodge 2216.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Landes was preceded in death by four brothers, Ward Landes, Myron Landes, Lawrence Landes and Robert Landes and three sisters, Janet Brubeck, Margaret Bright and Elizabeth Snyder.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, survivors include two sons, Ernest R. Ernie Landes, II and wife Debbie of Verona, and Dennis L. Landes and wife Judy of Fort Defiance; two daughters, Betty Jo B.J. Rohr and husband Doug of Verona, and Carol Myers and husband Glenn of Weyers Cave; one brother, Kenneth Landes and wife Alma of Mt. Sidney; a sister Louise Sheets of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Betty Landes of Staunton; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; one step grandchild, four step great grandchildren, and three step great, great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Pleasant View Evangelic Lutheran Church by Pastor Kenneth Price.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends any time at the home of Ernie and Debbie Landes, 336 Bald Rock Road, Verona
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Zane Houff, Jason Landes, Kyle Myers, Jason Ball, Scott Cash, Adam Cash, Daniel Cash, Quin Houff, Mike Cash, Chance Houff and Tucker Houff.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Pleasant View Evangelic Lutheran Church, 2733 Springhill Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401
