Douglas Doodle Surratt, 43, husband of Jill (Wade) Surratt of 786 Ladd Road, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Mr. Surratt was born July 31, 1969 in Staunton, a son of David W. Surratt and Linda (Stover) Corson.
Doug was a 1987 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and was employed with Dominion Power for twenty-three years. He was a member of Wayne Hill Baptist Church, a member of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad and he loved to hunt and spend time with his family.
Mr. Surratt was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chester Surratt; maternal grandparents, Sidney and Pauline Stover and his beloved father-in-law, Bill Wade.
In addition to his wife of twenty-three years and his parents, Doug is survived by two daughters, Sarah K. Surratt of Staunton and Hannah W. Surratt of Fishersville; brothers, Tim W. Surratt of Verona and Matt D. Surratt and his wife Amanda of New Hope; a sister Linda C. Kennedy and her husband Brad of NC; a paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Gutshall Staunton; step-father Bob Corson; step-mother, Janet Surratt; special aunt, Ella Turner of Stuarts Draft and his mother-in-law, Betty N. Wade of Fishersville. Doug is also survived by additional brothers and sisters and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dougs life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Temple D. Myers.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be private in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Bath, County.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and co-workers from Dominion Power.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
