Dorothy (Painter) Weeks, 87, widow of H. Gordon Weeks, of 106 Old Sandbank Lane, Raphine passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 in the Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.
Mrs. Weeks was born March 22, 1926, in Lofton, a daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Lawhorne) Painter.
Dorothy was a member of Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church, and worked as a cook at Whites Truck Stop.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by a daughter Joyce Lassister; a stepson Horace Hensley Weeks; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a son Johnny Weeks and wife Dana of Lofton; a daughter Jeanie Milstead of Verona and special daughterin-law Maxine Weeks of Lofton, a step daughter Nina Shipman of Lofton, two brothers Doug Painter and Phillip Painter and wife Virginia, all of Staunton; a son-in-law, David Lassiter of Staunton; a sister-in-law Lorean Painter of Lofton; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church, Raphine conducted by Mr. Charles Ramsey and Chaplain Murphy Terry.
Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church or at the home of the children at any time.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
