Dorothy Gerleen Jean (Jarvis) Tuennermann, 76, widow of William Barry Tuennermann of 2940 Lee Jackson Highway passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in the Stuarts Draft Christian Home.
Mrs. Tuennermann was born on October 21, 1939 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late John Jacob Jarvis and Viola Freedom (Sensabaugh) Jarvis.
Dorothy was a member of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Walkers Creek and was retired from Hollister where she was employed in production. She enjoys gardening, her flowers as well as spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Tuennermann was an avid supporter and follower of the Riverheads sporting teams.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tuennermann was preceded in death by five siblings, Harry Richard Jarvis, Stella Lucille Jarvis, Elizabeth Grimm, Mary Mader and Francis Oliver.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff Tuennermann and his wife Starla of Staunton and Steve Tuennermann and his wife Lori of Middlebrook; four brothers, John Jarvis, Jr. and his wife Helen and Raymond W. Jarvis and his wife Alleta both of Middlebrook, Jacob Charles Jarvis and his wife Mildred of Staunton and Wayne Nelson Jarvis and his wife Linda of Stuarts Draft; three grandchildren, Samantha Campbell and her husband Cody, Michael Tuennermann and his wife Mackenzie, and Kelley Tuennermann and her fianc Jared Hartness; a special friend, Jim Green; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Taylor.
Burial will follow in the Immanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dale Grimm, David Grimm, Danny Grimm, Jerry Jarvis, Johnny Mader, Jr. Charlie Oliver, Daryl Oliver, Todd Jarvis, Dustin Jarvis and Wesley Jarvis.
