Dorothy Myrtle (Ramsey) Snyder, 87, widow of John Henry Snyder, Jr. of Stuarts Draft passed away, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.
Mrs. Snyder was born in Augusta County near Vesuvius on March 7, 1925, a daughter of the late Willie Lee and Alice Myrtle (Houser) Ramsey.
Mrs. Snyder was a 1943 graduate of Spottswood High School and a long time member of the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by two brothers, Otho and Derwood Ramsey, two sisters, Alberta Whiteside and Frances Ham; a daughter-in-law, Dawn (McNees) Snyder; a special niece, Marian Ramsey and special nephew, John Albert Ham.
Surviving are three sons, Ray L. Snyder and his wife Diann, Steven Thomas Snyder all of Waynesboro and James Robert Bobby Snyder of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Myra Lynn (Snyder) Carter and her husband Thom of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Susan S. Roupp and her husband Jeremy, Dr. John A. Jay Snyder and his wife Dr. Amanda Guedes de Morais, Jennifer L. (Snyder) Cayton and her husband Joe, Jared Miller, Kylene Kerby and Emily Snyder; two great grandchildren, Marina Morais Snyder and Silas Atlee Roupp; and a special friend, Della Cork of Stuarts Draft.
A Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern by Rev. Judson Baldwin.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Thom Carter, 1259 Meadowbrook Road, Waynesboro.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, Post Office Box 260, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477.
