IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Pauline
Moyers
September 7, 1942 – January 7, 2023
Dorothy Pauline (Moats) Moyers, 80, wife of Robert "R.C." Moyers of Old Greenville Road, Staunton, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at King's Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton.
She was blessed with a loving and dedicated family.
A daughter of James Floyd and Mabel Varner (Ralston) Moats, she was born on September 7, 1942 in Highland County, Virginia.
At six years old, the dreaded disease of polio struck her family. As horrible as the disease was, her fight would define a truly remarkable life; a life of inspiration and dedication to God, family, and friends.
On March 2, 1963, after being high school sweethearts, she married Robert Colin Moyers.
Mrs. Moyers lived most of her in Augusta County and retired from the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center's business office in 1989 due to the many problems associated with post-polio syndrome. She attended Verona United Methodist Church, where she assisted with the newsletter. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family. Family was her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Beulah Simmons, Daisy Hoover, Bonnie Nuckoles, and Mary Booth; brothers, Allen, Dennis, and Charles Ralston, and Roger Moats.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeff Moyers and his wife, Debbie of Greenville and a grandson, Travis Cody Moyers and his wife, Kim of Greenville; sisters, Wilma Harlow of Staunton and Corieta Smith of Verona; and sister-in-law, Sara Moats.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Pastor Shawna Hiner officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Dorothy's memory, to the charity of one's choice.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
