Dorothy Lee (Bailey) Hoosier, 83, widow of Albert Elsworth Hoosier, of Greenville passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Hoosier was born July 22, 1928 in Ritchie County, WVA, a daughter of the late Nelson P. and Edith Inez (Gibson) Bailey.
Dorothy was a former member of the Eden Baptist Church in Griffithsville, WVA and after her move to Virginia she became a member of the Greenville Baptist Church in Greenville, VA. She was a wonderful devoted wife to Albert for forty-eight years, a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking for her family and being a special caregiver to all.
She is survived by four sons, Dennis N. Hoosier of Parkersburg, WVA, Algie N. Hoosier, Sr. and his wife Patty of Orlando, FL, Daniel D. Hoosier of Alburn, WVA and Leonard Hoosier and his wife Eileen of Oceana, WVA; three daughters, Sharon M Warner and her husband Jim of Parkersburg, WVA, Audrey M. Nelson and her husband Joe of Man WVA and Kathy Smoot and her husband Darby of Greenville; two brothers, Chester Bailey and Hansford Bailey; three sisters, Beatrice George of Winifrede, WVA, May June Lilly of Coxs Mill, WVA and Sylvia Osborne; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Crown Freewill Baptist Church in Crown, WVA by Pastor Charles Vance.
Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Pecks Mill, WVA.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in the Crown Freewill Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will be Leonard Hoosier, Jr., Jackie Hoosier, Devin Smoot, Zach Nelson, Joe Nelson, Jr., and Clark Necessary.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Janice Painter and the Greenville Baptist Church for all their thoughts and prayers and a special thank you to Nancy Ralston of Augusta Home Health for her personal care and attention.
