Dorothy Helen (Gill) Johnson, 70, widow of Hallie Hansford Johnson, formerly of Churchville, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 in Waynesboro.
Dorothy was born on May 1, 1948 in Hinton, West Virginia, daughter of Virginia Mabel (Ayers) Gill and the late Dewey Powell Gill.
Mrs. Johnson was a loving mother who enjoyed her large family and loved her grandchildren. She was a down home country woman, and a wonderful cook.
Surviving are her children, Denise "Pumpkin" Fishel (Billy), Billy Johnson (Tammy), Sonny Johnson (Peggy Sue), Jerry Johnson (Chastity), Virginia "Jenny" Knight (Melvin), Hansford "Chubby" Johnson (Melissa), Elizabeth Altizer (Chief), April Johnson (Corwin Selph); five brothers; four sisters; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019, in the Mt. View Mennonite Church in Lyndhurst by Pastor Earl Monroe. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
