Dorothy Jane "Dottie" (Throckmorton) Kirtz, 92, widow of Paul Wesley Kirtz, of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Staunton Post Acute Rehab Center.
Mrs. Kirtz was born in Montclair, New Jersey on May 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Richard Cowen Throckmorton and Mary (Gray) Throckmorton.
Dottie was an active member of White Hill Church of the Brethren where she found joy singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Staunton Choral Society and loved spending her time quilting and cross-stitching.
In addition to her parents and husband of fifty-eight years, Mrs. Kirtz was preceded in death by a son, Michael Jay "Mike" Kirtz; her twin brother, Richard "Dick" Throckmorton; and a half-brother, Phillip Throckmorton.
Surviving, are two sons, Jan Paul Kirtz and his wife, Analiza of Fishersville and Jeffrey Ransom "Jeff" Kirtz and his wife, Reneé of Pamplin, VA; two daughters, Cheryl Lee "Cherie" (Kirtz) Zeiner and her husband, David and Kristina Marie "Krissy" Kirtz, all of Staunton; six grandchildren, Tiffany Stickley, Allison Labadie and her husband, Tucker, Emily Carroll and her husband, Ryan, Meaghann Raines and her husband, Michael, Tyler Kirtz, and Wesley Kirtz and his wife, Abby; eleven great-grandchildren, Alex Collins, Kiersten Collins, Ella Hoffman, Easton Hoffman, Gemma Carroll, Weston Labadie, Quinn Labadie, Millie Raines, Nora Kirtz, Ryan Kirtz, and Camille Kirtz; three great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Collins, Myla Collins, and Camden Collins; a brother, David Throckmorton of FL; a half-sister, Carol Hauser and her husband, Robert of Lynchburg; a number of nieces and nephews; and additional step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at White Hill Church of the Brethren by Pastor David Chappell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 in the White Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor David Chappell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Labadie, Michael Raines, Wesley Kirtz, Ryan Carroll, Easton Hoffman, and Alex Collins.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, 1700 West Beverly Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
