"Dot" (Poole) Sprouse
June 7, 1932 – February 11, 2023
Dorothy O. "Dot" (Poole) Sprouse, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
Mrs. Sprouse was born in Mountain City, Tennessee on June 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Conley David Poole and Hattie (Smith) Poole.
"Dot" loved being with her family, cooking great meals, singing and playing Gospel Music. She loved her family and was very good at making everyone feel like they were special. "Dot" was a long-time member of the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene; she loved God and her church family. She enjoyed many years as a school bus driver, where every child became part of her family. Being the first female auctioneer in Augusta County was one of her proud accomplishments. She also served as a Corrections Officer at Augusta Corrections.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Carl V. Sprouse Sr.; two brothers, Conley Poole, Jr. and Harry Poole; five sisters, Mae Ward, Ola Perkins, Ollie Kiser, Willie "June" Hamm and Thelma Crasco; a grandson, Carl "CD" Sprouse and a great-grandson, David Overton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carl Sprouse, Jr. and his wife, Reda; Linda Cash and her husband, Ervin; Brenda Thompson and her husband, Harold; Larry D. Sprouse and his wife, Regina; Sandford Sprouse and his wife, Teresa; Kathy Berry and her husband, Gwin; a special grandson who she helped raise, Carl Thompson; a brother, Kenneth Poole; a sister, Jean "Cookie" Bass; grandchildren Teresa Lawson, Anthony Cash, Tammie Kent, Conway Cash, Trevor Thompson, Kellyn Kincaid, Dakota Sprouse, Shasta Shifflett, Alexandra, Joey and Daniel Sprouse, Whitney Tisdale and Autumn Dauti; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the family's residences.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene by Pastors Billy Curry and Larry Strickler.
Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be family members.
It is suggested, that those desiring make memorial contributions to Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 37, Craigsville, VA 24430 or Craigsville- Augusta Springs Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 99, Craigsville, VA 24430.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
