Dorothy Elizabeth (Duff) Chittum, 88, widow of Alfred Leo Chittum of
Campbell Street passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in Augusta Health in
Fishersville.
Mrs. Chittum was born on April 20, 1927 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late George Ellie and Mary Osborn (Templeton) Duff.
Mrs. Chittum was a very active member of the Fountain of Life Church of God of Prophecy and was retired from Genesco L. Grief where she had been employed as a seamstress. She was a member of the Augusta Senior Center and she enjoyed caring for her roses, growing tomatoes and canning.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chittum was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Chittum and a brother, James Duff.
Surviving are two sons, Lester Chittum and his wife Lori of Virginia Beach and Charles Chittum and his wife Tomi of Mt. Sidney; four brothers, William Duff of NJ, Richard Duff of Big Island, Robert Bob Duff of Buena Vista and Walter Jr. Duff of Glasgow; six sisters, Betty OConnell of Buena Vista, Blanche Sorrells of Fairfield, Mary Whitten of Buena Vista, Annie Duff of Fairfield, Margaret Wilmer of Lexington and Martha Page of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Amberleigh Klaus and her husband Demetrius, Anthony Chittum and his wife Michelle, Michele Knight and her husband Corey, Keith Chittum and his wife Angie, Carrie Viera and her husband Scott, Brandy Williams and her husband Shane and Denise Duncan; ten great-grandchildren, Allie, Jacob, Isabella, Sophia, Blake, Brady, A.J., Michael, Kaitlyn and Dakota; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12,
2015 in the Fountain of Life Church of God of Prophecy by Pastor David Smith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Concord Church Cemetery in Rockbridge County.
Active pallbearers will be Charlie Griffin, William Gibson, Joseph Smith, Andy Wilmer, Anthony Chittum, Scott Wilmer, Demetrius Klaus and Shane Williams.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of her arrangements.
