Dorothy W. Bailey

STAUNTON:

Dorothy Elizabeth (Warren) Bailey, 87, widow of Thomas W. Bailey, Sr., formerly of 292 Grandon Road, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 in Envoy of Staunton.
Mrs. Bailey was born October 16, 1923 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Kirby Elick and Dolly Florence (Carico) Warren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Warren, a sister, Lois Taylor and a daughter-in-law, Joan (Gilbert) Bailey.
Dorothy loved being a mother and the duties of a homemaker such as baking, cooking and sewing. She was known as a Giver for she was always helping others.
She was survived by a son, Thomas William Tom Bailey, Jr. and his companion, Beverly Oberg; a daughter, Mary Irene Barcomb and her husband Larry all of Staunton; two grandchildren, Andrew W. Bailey and Dianna R. Dice; two great-grandchildren, Nick Roe and Avery M. Bailey; a number of nieces and nephews and her Envoy Family, also survive.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the Augusta Memorial Park by Rev. Warren Knott.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Augusta Regional SPCA, 33 Archery Lane, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
