Doris Kathleen (Fretwell) Parr, 78, of 339 Westminister Drive passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Parr was born September 27, 1931 in Stuarts Draft, a daughter of the late Justice Clifton Fretwell, Sr. and Dora Mae (Phillips) Luce.
Doris retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a supervisor. She was a member of Ballston Baptist Church in Arlington, VA. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter # 39 and a past Guardian for Jobs Daughters Bethel #35 of Arlington, VA. She was a safety captain for the Federal FEW of Washington, DC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Parr; a sister, Charlotte Brown and her step-father, Freeman A. Luce.
Survivors include her children, N. Carlotta Parr of West Hartford, CT, Stoney W. Parr and his wife Kara M. of Crimora; Bonita L. Parrack and her husband Jack L. of Bluemont and Melissa D. Loar and her husband Jerry D. of Spotsylvania; a brother, Cliff Fretwell and his wife Erma of Staunton; two sisters, Ginney Keller and her husband Tom of Waynesboro and Joyce Otto of Alexandria; nine grandchildren, Gail Holder, Shane Atkinson, Sr. and his wife Shannon, Jeremy Dudley, Tiffany Dudley, Ethan Parr, Kim McDaniel, Chris Loar and his wife Erin, Anna Diehl and Timothy Accord; four great-grandchildren, Shane Atkinson, Jr., Skylar McDaniel, Alex Panholzer and Lindsey Loar.
Active pallbearers will be Stoney W. Parr, Jerry D. Loar, Jack L. Parrack, Shane Atkinson, Jeremy Dudley, Ethan Parr, Chris Loar and Timothy Accord.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters Gail Holder, Tiffany Dudley, Kim Loar and Anna Diehl.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 in the National Memorial Cemetery in Falls Church, VA.
The family will receive family and friends this evening 7-9:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2010 at Coffman Funeral Home.
