Doris (Piner) Miller, 87, widow of Frederick Dean Miller, formerly of Staunton passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.
Mrs. Miller was born on April 17, 1930 in Covington, Virginia, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Helen (Moran) Piner.
Doris was a long time member of the Second Presbyterian Church, retired from DeJarnette Center as an Assistant Program Manager and was a volunteer at the Augusta Health for twenty years. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Piner and Billy Piner.
Surviving are two sons, David F. Miller and his wife Caroline of Staunton and T. Scott Miller and his wife Dawn of Verona; a daughter, Cynthia Frye and her husband William of Stuarts Draft; seven grandchildren, Robert Miller, Travis Miller, Margaret Roth, Mindy Nance, Sarah Spence, Brittany Thorne and Christopher Thorne; fifteen great-grandchildren, Brendan Miller, Kellsye Miller, Brodie Miller, Payton Miller, Canon Miller, Boone Miller, Timothy Mulineri, Andrew Mulineri, Addie Cooper, Taviah Cooper, Tyler Phillips, Benjamin McNett, Samuel Spence, Eli Spence and Jana Spence; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Second Presbyterian Church by Rev. Evan R. Smith. The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Roth, Caleb Spence, Dean Moran, Eddie McNett, Zach Cooper and Travis Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Miller, Eric Piner, Keith Piner, William Frye and Brendan Miller.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of the Shenandoah Nursing Home and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the loving care they provided Doris.
