Donald Sheridan Don Slawson, 74, husband of Norma June (Armstrong) Slawson of 129 Sproul Lane, passed away Friday, (June 19, 2009) at his residence.
Mr. Slawson was born on October 3, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio a son of the late George Sheridan and Cinderella (Wagner) Slawson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Slawson was preceded in death by a son, Billy A. Webb and a sister, Mrs. Judy Burless.
Don was retired as a trucker driver. He enjoyed camping, watching NFL Football and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife to whom he married on March 25, 1971, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; George I. G.I. Slawson and his wife Patty of Elyria, Ohio and Donny V. and his wife Denise of Deerfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Kay Hayes and her husband Gary of Staunton, Karen D. Painter and her husband Rodney of Grottoes and Christal M. Halterman and her special friend Jeff Hamilton of West Augusta; a brother and sister-in-law, James Jim Slawson and his wife Jewel of Piedmont, SC; seventeen grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Monday, (June 22, 2009) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Golden C. Clark.
The family will receive friends following the service in the funeral home or at his residence at other times.
