IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Eldridge
Moyers
July 21, 1939 – May 15, 2022
Donald Eldridge Moyers, 82, husband of Frances Virginia (Hunter) Moyers, of Swoope, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Moyers was born on July 21, 1939, a son of the late James Lester Moyers and Lillie May (Miller) Moyers.
Don retired as Director of Field Operations from Augusta County Service Authority after over forty years of service. He was a member of the Loch Willow Presbyterian Church, the Churchville Ruritan Club, and served on the Board for Augusta County Credit Union.
Don enjoyed family immensely. He spent many Sundays giving pony cart rides to his numerous nieces and nephews. He loved history. His children firmly believe by the age of eighteen, they had read every historical marker in the state of Virginia, while on family vacations, in the heat of the summer, in the unairconditioned family car.
Don said his favorite phase of life was when his grandchildren arrived. "All of the fun, none of the pressure."
This dear man will be missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moyers was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth "Buddy" Moyers and Eugene Moyers, and a sister, Ruby Cox.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-two years, is a son, Daniel Scott Moyers; a daughter, Catherine Moyers-Youell and her husband Bill; a sister, Archie Forsythe; four grandchildren, Ryan, Shea, and Ross Youell, and Callie Moyers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Green Hill Cemetery by Pastor Reed Hopkins.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Davey Hutchinson, Jerry Martin, John Tuttle, Bill Tuttle, Steve Forsythe, and Marc Moyers.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 or the organization of one's choosing.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
