Donald H. Loan

STAUNTON:

Donald Hartman Loan, 79, husband of Nancy (Ruebush) Loan of 1013 Blackburn Street passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in the University of Virginia Hospital.
Mr. Loan was born March 31, 1932 in Augusta County, a son of the late Harvey Arnold Loan and Gertrude (Glendye) Loan Lotts.
Mr. Loan was a member of the Stonewall United Methodist and attended Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1998 from Hershey Chocolate after 15 years of service as a machine operator and was also employed at Walmart. He had a very strong work ethic; he enjoyed carpentry and older country music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ellen (Welcher) Loan and a sister, Reva Loan.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years is a son, Dwayne Hartman Loan of Staunton; a daughter, Linda Kay (Loan) Martin and her husband Donnie of Staunton; two brothers, Dallas G. Loan of Stuarts Draft and Denver C. Loan of Bridgewater; five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church by Pastor John Crawford, III.
Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harry Smith, Gary Sweet, Randy Collier, Tommy Glendye, Clarence Ruebush and Clarence Cooper
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or the residence at other times.
