Donald Dave Hayes, 92, husband of Willie Mae (Grogg) Hayes of Craigsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday June 24, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Hayes was born in Goshen, Virginia on June 11, 1930 a son of the late Harvey H. Hayes and Bertie Lee (Pugh) Hayes.

Donald was an active member of Craigsville Southern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and he was a Veteran of the United State Navy. Mr. Hayes retired from DuPont with 23 years of service, he enjoyed NASCAR, horse racing and spending time at the family camp.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lee Hayes and two sisters, Ella Marie Colvin and Violet Farrar.

Mr. Hayes is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-three years, is a son, Darrell Wayne Hayes and his wife Stacey of Staunton; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Hayes of Augusta Springs, Margie (Grogg) Pannell of Afton, and Martha (Grogg) Pannell of Verona; a granddaughter, Kaley Armstrong and her husband Caleb; two great-granddaughters, Hadley Mae Armstrong and Avery Isabel Armstrong; two special nieces, Donna Reynolds and Renee Nester and husband Chad; and a special nephew, Gary Farrar and wife Beverly.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in Craigsville Southern Baptist Church by Reverend Tom Quick.

Burial will be private in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends anytime at the residence.
