Donald Rae Greene, 86, husband of Madeline (Hevener) Greene of Shutterlee Mill Road, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Greene was born on February 13, 1929 in Greenville, a son of the late Nimrod and Lelia (Painter) Greene.
Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was proud to be an American. He retired from General Electric as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the North South Skirmish Association for fifty years. Mr. Greene was a talented gunsmith and a hunter safety instructor for many years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and lived his entire life in Staunton and Augusta County.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-four years, is a son, Michael R. Greene of Staunton; three daughters, Teresa Baber of Staunton, Susan R. Greene and her husband Thomas Wilkinson of Weyers Cave; Donna R. Maybush and her husband Donnie of Staunton; a brother, Nimrod Pete Greene and his wife Isabelle of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Sarah Moore, Holly Morris, Katie Morris, Shane Maybush, Colton Maybush and Caleb Maybush; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Denny Sites.
Burial will be private in the Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
