Because of His mercy and because of His blood on the cross, a forgiven Donald Ray "Donnie" Miller went into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Mr. Miller was born on January 12, 1933 in Staunton, the first child of Ray Kenneth and Pauline (Smith) Miller.
Donnie was a member of Valley Baptist Church, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 and he retired as captain from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Weems and Patsy Rexrode.
Mr. Miller was married on June 10, 1956 in Greenville, Mississippi to his bride, Joanne (Kirby) Miller who survives. Also surviving from this union are three daughters, Donna Lynn Miller of Mount Sidney, Karen (Miller) Valenzuela and her husband, Benjamin of Chester, and Jodi (Miller) Wright and her husband William "Shrimp" of Staunton; six grandchildren, Jessica Roach, Emily Clatterbuck, Jordan Miller, Cody Valenzuela, Ally Rankin, and Ethan Wright; three great-grandchildren, Briana Roach, Aiden Roach, and Cullen Liskey; a brother, Fred L. Miller of Fishersville; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the Valley Baptist Church by Pastor Frank Hall and Pastor Lewis Brandt.
The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Ariel with Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, Pastor Frank Hall and the church family at Valley Baptist, for all their love and kindness shown to them during Mr. Miller's illness.
