Obituary

Corrine Dolores Elizabeth Smith, widow of Taylor Smith, Sr. of Staunton, passed away, Sunday, July 23, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in Staunton, Virginia on July 7, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Constance and Viola (Carter) Harris.
She loved raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, conversing with friends, gardening, and working in the church. She worked for several families in Staunton, caring for their homes and children. In her later years, she enjoyed sitting on her deck, watching and feeding the abundant wildlife on her property. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Vaughn; brother, Richard Harris; son-in-law, Ronald Wertz; grandson, Zhonton Berry; and step-great granddaughter, Mion Venable.
Surviving are five children, Larry F. Smith of Staunton, Taylor Smith Jr. and his wife Joyce of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leroy J. Smith of Staunton, Corrine Wertz of Randallstown, Maryland, and Brenda Smith Bell of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Dwayne Smith and his wife Jill, Muzet Bell, Darren Smith and his wife Yvette, Derek Smith and his wife Minda, Daryl Wertz, Daniel Smith; Terrence Smith; two step- grandchildren, Arlanda Shaw and Yulanda Venable; thirteen great- grandchildren; Luke Smith, Kyle Smith, Weston Smith, Scott Smith, Anya Smith, Chad Smith, Briea Smith, Kany Berry, Mia Smith, Kamyah Berry, Hannah Smith, Ian Smith and Ethan Smith; five step great-grandchildren, Kianne Jackson, Fabian Henderson, Toneya Shaw, Damion Smith, Kashmere Jenkins; two step great-great grandchildren, Rahniya Henderson and Kyler Seay; and a brother, Edward Harris and sister, Hazel Harris; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Community United Methodist Church by Rev. Reginald A. Early.
Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery.
